Pre-February Newsletter  (United States)

Orlando DotNetNuke Users Group

Hello User Group Member:

We have plenty of exciting news for this newsletter that we want you to get the word out on.  Please read on.  You won't be sorry - promise!

ODUG News

Upcoming Speakers

We have a HUGE announcement in terms of the next few meetings.  The ODUG has scored some high profile speakers this year.  It is our goal to make each meeting be valuable not only in content, but also in terms of the speaker that is delivering the content.  Here is the speaker line-up for the next 4 meetings:

As you can see, this is becoming an All-Star year for the ODUG.  We are getting some of the best and brightest speakers that are possible in the DNN community.

IMPORTANT NOTE: In order for us to continue to be able to bring in these high-profile DNN speakers, we need to boost our user group attendance.  Please help me network with the .Net communities and bring a friend to the ODUG meetings.  You know there will be enough drinks, food, prizes, and networking to go around!

Looking For an ODUG Podium

We are in the need of a podium for speakers to use at our meetings to make demos go a lot more smoothly, and allow speakers to speak more directly to the ODUG members.  Please reply to this e-mail if you have a podium that can be donated.  It would be highly preferred if the podium is lightweight and portable.

Loss of a Sponsor, Gain of a Community

As of January 14th, the Smart-Thinker module suite has been opened to the public as an open source project.  This decision was not made lightly by Rodney Joyce, the owner.  However, this news does mean that the modules may have more rapid feature development going forward.  We wish Rodney good luck with his open source modules and PokerDIY.com

Next Meeting Tuesday, Feb. 3 @ 7:00 PM

Our next meeting brings Darrell Hardy in to us from the Space Coast to present DotNetNuke® 5: A Peak Under the Hood.  He is a co-author of the Professional DotNetNuke 5 book due to release in March, by Wrox.  This is an important meeting to attend, even if you're not a developer.  This is very important information that will help you to understand why certain features work the way that they do.  If you're a developer, that still applies, but this information will also help you write code faster, and smarter.  If you know any DNN developers, let them know that this is a meeting that they should not miss!

The after party was a success, so we will be doing it again.  Plan to hang out after the meeting.  We'd love to see you there!

Remember, we will still have plenty of giveaways, and will be broadcasting LIVE from our website!  Please REGISTER at Code Zone to let us know you're attending, so we order enough food.  Don't forget!

Closing Remarks

In closing, I would like to remind you about the ODUG  CafePress store now.  Get your ODUG swag and show it off at our next meeting!  :)  See you then!
