DNN Integration with existing user base  (United States)

My POB has decided to roll our various user portals into one DNN instance, changing the content/experience based on our internal security/classification of the users.  We have an extensive CRM application that houses our user information but I don't know what DNN can do in this situation.  I had used DNN back in version 2 but I'm considering myself a newbie.

I am curious about the potential integration challenges that may/will arise as we place DNN firmly over our users.  Is it possible?  Any recommended reading/migration paths?

Any advice, or direction in where to look would be appreciated.

It sounds like you need a custom membership provider, if you want to intergrate your existing CRM users/roles into dotnetnuke.  I ran across this article from engage software that may be of use:
