DNN Appetizers: TOONPlayer by Jim Sparks

Jim Sparks will be demonstrating a unique module in DNN called the TOONplayer. The TOONplayer is an interactive animation platform that provides users the ability to create and send photo personalized e-greetings featuring music, backgrounds and dancing characters. In just 5 minutes, he will go over the module and create a new animation featuring Will Strohl and Darrell Hardy as animated characters.

ODUG Meeting is NEXT TUESDAY!

We are very excited to announce that our next meeting is still an ODUG meeting, but we will be having a joint meeting for the first time, ever! The folks at the ONETUG love our meeting topic, speaker, and idea so much that they are changing their meeting date to be with US.

This means that the ODUG and ONETUG will both be meeting at Orlando City Hall next Tuesday, May 4th. However, the meeting time has changed for this meeting as well. In order to fit in all of the content, we are starting a bit earlier than usual, at 6:30 PM.

Our speaker, Nik Kalyani, is not only the co-founder of the DotNetNuke® Corporation, but he is also the founder of a new technology start-up called HyperCrunch. He is not only bringing himself, but he is bringing some incredible prizes with him! Nik has a new concept for meetings called a Hackathon, where the attendees follow along with the presenter to learn the topic and have a working example at the end of the meeting. I have a client that needs me to built a DNN system that has the capacity to register up to 100,000 people in the next 3 months. Of course he was nice enough to give me two weeks to get the system designed, built, tested and deployed. So I need as much off the shelf modules as I can get .

The system needs to be able to allow the user to register on-line.
They must pay $25 to register (Authorize.net is preferred, PayPal is a distant second option).
Standard contact fields, plus a couple of custom fields need to be collected.
It would be nice to be able to validate some of the users data against a third party API, but that isn't critical.
The user needs to be able to review their account and make changes to profile entries.
The administrators need to be able to manually alter users profiles and subscription status.
Of course, the registration and user profile pages really need to be more templatable and stylable than the default DNN controls.
Be able to export all registrants to CSV or other loadable formats
Be able to access the registrant data easily in the database (not buried too far into XML strings or JSON strings) for internal queries.

I am guessing that some kind of subscription control combined with some kind of user profile control would be just what I need. But I just don't have a lot of time to benchmark a bunch of commercial systems and was wondering if any of you had experience with a system that I could plug in to do this.

Data Springs Dynamic Registration is one option that I am looking at. Maybe the whole User Management Suite.

But on the other hand, I have been thinking of some kind of CRM system for managing all of those users. I just don't know if those kinds of tools will integrate with the DNN users information.

Or maybe just roll my own with some kind of quick module writing? I can do that too, but I would rather have it built from a standard module. I hate having to write all my own Authorize.net communcations and the like.
