A hodgepodge of DotNetNuke Topics Date Posted: May 3 2008 Great meeting today and welcome our new member Kurt. The morning started early when Mike and Dave made the trip in for 10 am from Vero Beach to Orlando. Dave was going to update the older version of DotNetNuke that Lake Highland Prep had running on their server to the current version and he wanted to view everything first before he started the intallation process. Dave had started the install process and just ran into one problem regarding the new folder structure and was able to find a SQL script to fix it and he was done fast. Great work, Dave! It was fun to spend some time talking to all the users about how they were using DotNetNuke. We were able to get some good resources on books, photo stock sites, and DNN modules. Check the resource page for those links. I must admit that every meeting is getting better and better. Hope to see you all next month at the Convention Center for the huge DotNetNuke event. Our next meeting is at Rez Hub Office on Wednesday, September 10 at 7pm. Have a great summer! Brian |
Re: Introduction to DotNetNuke Skinning by Will Strohl Date Posted: Apr 6 2008 Will, Great job yesterday at our meeting. Everyone learned a great deal about DNN Skinning and we'll have you do a more advanced tips and tricks workshop in the fall. |
Mike Webb talks about his companies modules at our 2nd meeting Date Posted: Mar 1 2008 We had a good turnout today for our 2nd user group meeting. There were some new faces and we appreciated those members who came back for our 2nd meeting. Thanks to Mike Webb from DNNSpired.com he reviewed all the modules that his company sells and the ones that his company gives away free as well. Mike gave a live demo and showed us some cool features that his company has added on to the Users Online module and several others as well. Check out his site to see what his company has. Mike is very helpful to new or experienced DotNetNuke users. He is a strong believer on giving back to the DNN community. There's going to be a group of us going to the Orlando Code Camp on March 22 at Seminole Community College in Heathrow, FL. There will be several free sessions on DotNetNuke during the day. We hope to see you there and at our next meeting on April 5th. You won't want to miss that one because our own Will Strohl will be teaching us the tips of skinning our sites. Finally, thanks to Active Modules Inc. for donating the ActiveForums modules which they sell on their site. One lucky member won a license for the Standard edition ($80 value) today at our meeting. Also, thanks to Shawn Weisfeld, leader of the Orlando .Net User group for attending our meeting and giving us his support. |
Our First Meeting - Feb 2, 2008 Date Posted: Feb 2 2008 There were eleven enthusiastic DotNetNukers who attended the first Orlando DotNetNuke® User group meeting at Lake Highland Prep School in Orlando today.
Everyone has a different background of using DotNetNuke® and all are eager to learn more. The 1 1/2 hour meeting went by fast and after introductions we all agreed to meet on a monthly basis.
Next month, Mike Webb from DNNSpired.com will talk about the custom modules that his company has created.
In April, Will Stohl will do an introduction to skinning. All in all, it was a very productive meeting. Hope to see you at the next meeting.
